Pay award announcement 2025

Today (Thursday 22 May), the government has announced the 2025/26 pay award for staff under the remits of the NHS Pay Review Body (NHS PRB) and Doctors’ and Dentists’ Review Body (DDRB).
NHS PRB
Staff on Agenda for Change NHS terms and conditions will receive a 3.6 per cent consolidated uplift with all pay uplifts backdated to 1 April 2025.
Alongside the pay award, the government has committed to providing the NHS Staff Council with a funded mandate for 2026/27 to begin to resolve outstanding concerns with the Agenda for Change pay structure.
DDRB
Doctors and dentists receive a 4 per cent consolidated uplift with all pay uplifts backdated to 1 April 2025. This applies to:
- consultants
- specialty and specialist (SAS) doctors
- doctors and dentists in training (plus £750 consolidated)
- salaried dentists (including those working in community dental services and public dental services )
- contractor general medical practitioners
- salaried general medical practitioners pay ranges
- pay element of dental contracts
There are no uplifts in local clinical excellence awards which remain frozen.
