Assessments for functional skills can now go ahead

Those waiting to take their functional skills assessment will now be able to do so in-person or through remote arrangements.

1 April 2021

New flexibilities introduced will mean that learners who are ready or waiting to take their functional skills assessment will now be able to do so in-person or through remote arrangements.

Under the arrangements, learners can be assessed remotely or online, or within training provider, college, school, or employer premises, where it is safe for them to do so in line with public health guidance.

The flexibility will avoid further delays and allow learners to progress and also enable apprentices to complete their apprenticeship.

Remote arrangements can refer to the use of remote assessment, remote invigilation, or both and where none of these options are possible, and it is not possible to delay the assessment until spring or summer, then the result can be awarded through alternative arrangements.
