Health and wellbeing

We promote wellbeing at work, with advice and information for NHS provider organisations on health and safety, stress, sickness absence and more.

Delivered by NHS Employers, the health and wellbeing (HWB) programme is commissioned by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and works alongside NHS provider organisations to help them best support the health and wellbeing of their employees.

Using the NHS People Plan’s ambitions and actions in our work, we strive for practitioners to develop their organisation’s health and wellbeing agenda to ensure they are fulfilling the NHS People Promise's strand of 'looking after our people.'

We promote physical, emotional and mental wellbeing at work, with advice, guidance and information on a variety of health and safety issues such as stress, sickness absence, financial wellbeing and more. We have a large health and wellbeing network specifically for health and wellbeing leads in NHS provider organisations to connect with one another, share good practice and find out what’s happening across the NHS.

The HWB programme is directed by Jennifer Gardener, with support from Louise Murray, programme lead, Katie Michala, senior programme officer and Jan Worthy, programme officer. We also work very closely with our staff experience programme team, Aliya Rehman, programme lead, and Emily Smith, senior programme officer.

We hope you can find what you are looking for on our web pages, but please feel free to email us on where we will be happy to help.
